Katrina Jefferson is an independent consultant and a member of the Collective Impact team where she provides planning, facilitation, and training services. Katrina has worked in the non-profit sector for over two decades with extensive experience working with vulnerable children and families. She is a trained and skilled therapist and for many years has provided an array of individual, family, group counseling and therapy services both in organizational settings and independently. Katrina is a Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor, as well as a Certified Trauma Therapist. In addition, Katrina has a unique background related to non-profit services and systems in WV as she developed, trained, and supervised in-home community based services for a statewide agency and wrote a federally subsidized grant to train and build the skill level in the community of foster parents, caretakers and biological parents on responding to traumatized reactions and behaviors. She is certified in Child Parent Relationship Therapy and Filial Therapy. Katrina currently is a Field Supervisor for several universities including the MU MSW Program and has supervised many student internships.
Over the past several years, Katrina and the team at PeaceTree Center have worked diligently to reclaim the formerly vacated and dilapidated East Pea Ridge Elementary School building in Huntington, WV. There they have established PeaceTree Center for Wellness which is a growing wellness, development, and training center offering services and activities to promote peace, healing, and hope for children, individuals, families, groups, and the community. They provide support groups for various ages and concerns, workshops for public and professionals, evidenced based services such as Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness and supportive services and activities including yoga, art therapy, massage therapy and consultation. Katrina provides an array of professional services, expertise and resources to the community including but not limited to, supervision, program design, direct service delivery, and training.
Katrina has a history of working collaboratively with community partners, facilitating group processes, and trading on a variety of topic areas. She is always looking forward to connecting and making new relationships. Katrina is particularly honored to work with Marshall University’s Social Work Department on the WV-TIME Grant to enhance community engagement and response to the youngest victims of the opioid crisis in here local communities. She is looking forward to expanding the scope of relationships within the community to improve the well-being of the children, families, and communities in her area.
Katrina received her Bachelor’s degree in Counseling and Rehabilitation from Marshall University and her Masters of Social Work degree from West Virginia University.
